Peristaltic teats are designed to assist baby’s natural peristaltic movements or rhythms. Peristaltic movement refers to the contraction of muscles to assist food and drinks down the digestive tract – it is like a wave of contracting muscles that gradual move food onwards. The beginning of the digestive tract starts at baby’s tongue where the sucking process assists in moving milk down into the stomach.

This range of peristaltic teats from Cherub Baby is designed to contract in a wave like fashion when sucked to assist baby’s natural rhythms and mimic this peristaltic movement. The amount of milk is controlled and only released when the baby sucks on the teat – just like when they feed off the breast. This means baby’s feed from a peristaltic teat is a familiar action and may assist in more comfortable and efficient movement from breast to bottle. This peristaltic action has also been shown to help babies experiencing colic, as milk is not constantly dripping out of teat.

The Cherub Baby anti-colic system allows air to enter the bottle when baby drinks reducing vacuum build up and provides a more comfortable feeding experience for baby. All teats are washable and long lasting, retaining their feel and shape after repeated washes and sterilisations.
